Everest –or to give it proper nepali name, Sagarmatha ( brow of the sky ) or its even more proper sherpa name, Chomolungma ( mather goddess of the world ). listing images how ever are of the revelations along the way: remote moansteries, irreprssible sherpas and peaks with almost human moods and personalities. Prior experience isn’t strictly necessary, but treks in the region required extra effort. The mount everest region is second only to the Annapurna in terms of the number off trekkers visiting it annually and it world surely be the must popular destination in the country. There are several possible ways of reaching the Everest region. The the choice is between flying into lukla, phaplu or taking the bus to jiri. Largly for this reason, most of people who trek everest with a group.
From Lukla the trail meanders north along the Dudh Koshi before bounding up to Namche, where Khumbu and and the serious scenery started. Nestled handsomely in a horseshoe bowl, the sherpa capital has done very well out of mountaineering and trekking over the years. Besides trekking equipment, Namche’s shops sell absolutely anything a trekkers could desire – trekking shoes, maps, sleeping bag etc. there is also a bank, post office and internet access. Climbs to Tengbuche, surrounded by protected juniper forest and commanding a show stealing view of everybody ‘s favourite peak Ama Dablam.
